Inauguration - What Did You Feel?

I watched with pride the inauguration of Barack Obama today. I would be interested to hear how you felt about it, and in particular, the prayers by Rick Warren and Joseph Lowery. Many people have said that, as a secular country, it was not a place for religion of any kind. As you might guess, I disagree.

Keeping the new president in my prayers, I remain

I would like to comment on Lowery's benediction. I thought that it was thoughtful, funny, and brillant. I was really quite moved by the entire prayer. I especially liked his line about turning "tanks into tractors." It really hit me when I first heard it as kind of strange. The more and more I thought about it - the more and more I appreciate it as a modern day metaphor of turning
"swords into plowshares and their spears to pruning hooks." Like Isaiah, his call was also quite prophetic - calling for an end to war.

I enjoyed the linking as well. Rev. Lowery did a fine job of imagery, taking specifics to greater truths. Thanks for your comment!
